How to merge iMovie libraries in macOS Ventura?

has this information changed any with the current v10.4.# & Ventura, or is it still the same as far as merging libraries?

Are events still part of the iMovie storage?

There is no actual "merge libraries" feature in iMovie.

What you do is open 2 or more libraries and then move or copy projects from one library to another. See Work with multiple libraries in iMovie on Mac - Apple Support for more info.

There are quite a few videos on YouTube that explain how to do this. Here is one example; scroll to about 5:47 for the portion about moving projects to another library.

I suppose you have your reasons for consolidating your multiple iMovie Libraries into a single iMovie Library but it's generally advisable to use a separate Library for each Project (1 for 1).

A separate Library for each Project ... unless you have multiple Projects that use the same pool of source clips in the Library. The point being to avoid having an iMovie Library grow to gargantuan size & complexity, which tends to be the case when you have multiple unrelated Projects using different source media clips.

IMHO, Events is a totally confusing misnomer. It would have been better to have called them Bins or Folders, places where you import, store & organize clips in the iMovie LIbrary for use in Projects.

You probably understand Projects vs. Events but even so this video does a good job explaining the differences and how to use them well - Understanding iMovie Projects and Events

a separate Library for each Project or a separate Event for each Project?

The reason being my client does podcasts in 3 locations with 3 different Macs.

Sometimes he needs to draw upon a previous project done in a different location.

I tried to get him on one mini and travel that from the beginning .... alas.

So the alternative was to build an ext SSD that is just iMovie.

One of those minis is stuffed to dangerous levels, so I figured the ext SSD for everything iMovie would be safer.

Although I have him totally b.u.'d with iDrive & CCC, he is not well versed in those.

He is, as he says, technologically challenged.

He does the picture edit and leaves the audio and Share file/render to me.

thanks for the links
