I have an M2 and M4 mini and one Magic Mouse paired with the M4
Whilst both minis are "open" I can use the mouse on either of them.
However, I usually only have one mini working at a time.
Is there any way to use the mouse with the M2 without unpairing it from the M4?

When both are turned on, you can use Universal Control from one to the other.
If the one that the mouse is paired to is turned off, then the other one has no knowledge of the Magic Mouse until you pair it with it.

How often do you use only the M2 Mac mini..?
For occasional use, I would use a second wireless or an inexpensive generic USB mouse with the M2 Mac mini.
I have numerous mice (wireless and wired) including an Apple one from 2001.
For the past few weeks I have been using the M2 almost exclusively. It may not be as highly specced as the M4 but it is much nicer (subjectively for me) to use and stays icy cool.
That's an interesting suggestion that I had not known about.
Unfortunately there's just one slight drawback as far as I am concerned . . . £££££££ . . . they are even more expensive than the Magic Mice and I am averse to spending money . . . even pennies.
Still for anyone cavalier about cash, they could be a godsend.

logitechs mx series of mice and keyboard let one pair them with up to 3->4 computers and switch between which one you control using a button on the keyboard/mouse
