Touch ID not working to wake my 2018 MacBook Pro

Each time I wake up my MacBook Pro 2018 30min+ after it goes to sleep, I have to wait around 20s until Touch ID is available to unlock the Mac. I erased it, reinstalled macOS 15.7.1, reset SMC and NVRAM, revived the T2 chip with Apple Configurator, and still no luck. Touch ID works just fine for everything else. Help?

A bit more context in case it’s relevant: a couple weeks ago I had the battery replaced at an Apple Store, where they replaced the top case. Around that time I also updated the macOS to the version 15.7.1. I’ve never had this issue. It seems that this issue is also happening with macOS Tahoe: Touch ID not working to wake MacBook Pro … - Apple Community

Yep, I notice it when the Touch Bar wakes up and for me it is at 7 seconds, no where near the 20 second mark you are experiencing.

This is on MacOS 15.7.1 on a 2019 MacBook Pro. If you have not sent feedback to Apple yet, then I would suggest to do that. I suspect a bug in 15.7.1, and also seen in the latest MacOS 26 version, as that is the common denominator for those that have experienced it in all cases I have seen. Have not seen where any software install is the issue and my Mac is clean as far as third party processes running on startup.

Product Feedback - Apple

Intel processor and Touch Bar may be a contributing factor as that seems to be the affected devices, yet the software update seems to be what has made the change.
