How do I stop my iPhone 17 Pro from dropping the USB connection with my Ford’s CarPlay?

I could not find anything on the Apple or Ford site. My wife and I both received new IPHONE 17 Pros but trying to connect to my Ford through the usb port has turned into my worst nightmare. Phones connect just fine via Bluetooth. Went through the CarPlay setup just fine. Plug the iPhone into the usb just fine. BUT within two minutes the phone connection drop from the vehicle and the only way to reestablish it is to unplug and then re-plug the phone back in only to have it drop again within two minutes. BTW when the connection drops the iPhone stops charging. It is happening with both iPhones, and I have tried multiple cables. Anyone else have similar experiences? For the record both phones connect and stay connected to our other vehicle which is not a Ford.

Quick update: Installing a new hub with USB-C did not work. Still drops out using the provided usb-c to usb-c cable from apple and many other cables i had lying around.

However, my USB voltage tester, for whatever reason, seems to fix things. Or at least makes the connection to the truck more stable? I can't really tell how it affects the connection, but I have not had a dropout as of yet plugging it in this order:

Sync 3 usb hub -> USB voltage tester -> A known USB-A to USB-C cord that had disconnect events -> my iPhone 17 pro max

I don't want to say this fixed things, but this may help??? Just posting in case someone else wants to try.

Same issue with me and my 17 PM. Tried multiple cable (including an apple cable and an anker cable). A random usb 3.1 to usb c cable i had lying around seems to work in only one orientation.

But multiple disconnections on ford's Sync 3.4 system using a usb a to usb c cable. It cuts out with a noticeable "click" or "tick" in the audio systems which makes me wonder if the phone is trying to charge with more power than the head unit can provide?

I don't think Ford provides software updates for Sync 3.4 anymore. The last one that was released, version 3.4.23188, was in 2023. I do have an "upgrade" to the usb hub on order, but this is a usb-c port on a USB 2.0 hub.... We will see if it helps though.

I am reading that there is something with the N1 chip and carplay. Odd that the problem affects both wired and wireless carplay users.

I am experiencing this same problem. I updated to the latest FORD SYNC 3 on my 2017 Ford Edge. I am using a new USB cable and everything works fine wi=till with my wife's iPhone 15 Pro Max. But the 17 pro Max JUST DOES NOT STAY CONNECTED. This is beyond frustrating. About to drive across the country, and can't have my brand new iphone connected to my console !?!? I may have to take it back to the store. This is insane.

If ANYONE has successfully resolved this issue - PLEASE let me know. I have tried all the steps out there in the user groups ... the updates, the settings, the cables ... all of them. Nothing fixes it. And everything continues to work flawlessly with my wife's 15 Pro Max.

HELP!!!!
