Hello~ If you owe Apple a balance…then it must be paid. Are you receiving a message of some sort and if so exactly what does it say? In the meantime…

Cancelling a subscription just prevents the next charge after the renewal data. It does not remove the current charge that you already owe and must pay for. You will not be able to continue and use the App Store at all until your previous charges have been paid. There is no charge to download free apps, but you will not be able to do that if you still owe money.

Thank you for explaining. I understand that. However, I already cancelled the subscription and haven’t used the app since then. In fact its a free trial and ended up August the 2nd. Why am I being required to pay for a subscription I never wanted in the first place?

Free trials must be cancelled by you at least 24 hours before the trial period ends to avoid the subscription charge. There is a message that says exactly that when you start a free trial and requires you to double click the side button to accept those terms, it makes no difference if you use the app or not, you still must cancel the day before to avoid the subscription charge. After you are charged, you must pay for that subscription and cancelling then only prevents the next charge, it does not remove the amount you have been charged for.
