iMovie-Bottom clip of overlay renders green

Timeline> two clip overlay. Bottom clip is a still photo JPEG set to crop "Fit"- vertical. The top clip is a vertical iPhone video that is transparent about 40%.

Bottom clip is green when rendered. It works okay in the timeline and in the Share preview window. The overlay works with other bottom JPEGs.

I've tried everything: updating to 10.4.3, restarting everything, and re-rendering at least ten times. I've wasted a lot of time, which is really frustrating. Sequoia 15.6.1

Hello- Just figured it out. JPEG was poster-sized and too large. Reduced it to 12" x 18- a good size for vertical video. It works now.

QUESTION: Why doesn't iMovie have a vertical format, as most videos on the phone are vertical? Huh?
