iPad Pro M4 not working properly after updating to iPadOS 26.0.1

Hi, on September 15th, I updated my iPad to IpadOS26 from IpadOS18. On October 9th, the front and back cameras and FaceID stopped functioning. I tried using third-party apps, but they didn't work either. I'm just seeing a black screen on the camera app. I attempted to force restart the device and reset the settings, but to no avail. Then, on October 11, I began to have battery issues. My iPad's battery is dead when I get back from leaving it at home to go to school. Instagram, YouTube, ChatGPT, settings, and other apps consumed the juice, according to the battery report.

hi yes it’s not a good news 😭 but the technician said my iPad was the problem the Apple Pencil was working on her iPad so apparently everything is broken like the camera Face ID and Bluetooth due to a power surge? I asked her tht if me charging my iPad with my Mac’s adapter brick could be the problem and she said tht very much could be a huge factor and the cost of fixing it it’s basically the cost of getting a new one with student discount with additional 200 bucks ish

If your iPad is not operating as expected, try a forced-restart - as this will often clear an isolated software issue:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

If the problem persists after performing the restart, it may be necessary to reset your iPad settings. While this reset will not cause any loss of data, as a precaution, it is always wise to ensure that you have a current iCloud or iTunes backup before performing the reset:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

When you are happy to proceed, you can perform the reset from iPad settings:

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Reset > Reset All Settings

If the problem still doesn’t clear, the next step is to reset the iPad to factory settings:

Otherwise, you would be best advised to seek assistance directly from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page. Alternatively and perhaps easier, you can initiate and manage your support cases using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed on your iPad, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

You might also visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to test and assess your iPad - and you can explore your available options:

yeahhh me tooo every was working but all of a sudden FACE ID / camera and apple pencil all stopped working like overnight even I did all the troubleshooting things I saw on the internet but nothing worked, the battery too it’s always draining like rlly rlly fast it was not like this before and it’s also always hot/warm when I’m not even using it the battery just drains

tbh super super annoying paying 1.5k for an iPad just for it have issues after not even a year of buying it

im going to the Genius Bar tmr to get it checked out hopefully its a software issue and I don’t have to spend a lot to get it fixed

That's nonsense.

The maximum power of charger itself does not matter. The iPad will only charge with the amperage/wattage that it deems necessary to properly charge the battery.

Now if the charger used was of a lower wattage than the iPad required, the iPad would show a "Not Charging" message and the battery would not charge (or would just simply charge very slowly).

Perhaps not...

While using a higher wattage Power Adapter is benign while the Power Adapter and device being charged are both healthy, in fault conditions the Power Adapter has the capacity to deliver significantly more power to the faulting device. As such, more available power can lead to significantly greater consequences should a fault occur.

In practice, the outcome is generally the same. If returned to Apple for repair, where applicable, a damaged or faulty device will ultimately be exchanged for a reconditioned device.
