Sync issues when recording audio and video to MacBook Pro
I have a separate digital camera and mic setup for recording and there seems to be a syncing issues when recording.

Please describe your setup in much more detail.
What camera? What mic? Is the mic connected to the camera or to your Mac? What settings are you using for the video and the audio in your camera? Is the audio out of sync when you play the recording in your camera or is it only on your Mac after importing the video? What app are you using to import the recording to your Mac?
The problem could an audio bitrate mismatch or it could be something more significant. No way to know unless you provide information.
