TextEdit Style drop-down MIA in TextEdit on macOS 26?

I still use RTF files for note-taking, and edit these with TextEdit and/or a couple of other apps that use Apples tools/toolbars for RTF file editing.

BUT .. in macOS 26, the Style drop-down that used to be the first (left-most) button on the toolbar seems to be MIA. You can still use styles via the Style dialog, but that's very cumbersome. I cant find any way to restore this, nor do I understand why it suddenly vanished?

Anyone have any info on this? Any way to restore this feature? Or why is has vanished?

TIA

I have no idea what you're talking about.

Here they are side-by-side:

The toolbars are re-arranged a bit. But Tahoe actually has one more option in the style control.

Edit: Ah, I see what you mean now. In most cases, Apple uses TextEdit as a demo app for all of its AppKit features. But not for toolbars. The toolbars in TextEdit are non-standard and not customizable as I would have expected.

However, you can resize the window to see more toolbar items. When you do that, a new highlight control appears on the right hand side. But if you keep making it bigger, then a styles drop-down appears on the left hand side. But the behaviour is the same on Sequoia. If the window is too small, you won't see that toolbar item.

Here is Tahoe TextEdit with a bigger window:
