Finder not loading with Tahoe upgrade

It happens when the system rebuilds file metadata or iCloud Drive syncs. First, force-quit Finder (Option + right-click Finder in Dock < Relaunch). If it’s still frozen, reboot into Safe Mode to clear cache and test if Finder works there. If it does, restart normally.
Also, check in Activity Monitor for any high CPU usage by “fseventsd” or “mds”, those mean Spotlight is still indexing. Let it finish, or rebuild the Spotlight index manually if it’s stuck. That usually sorts Finder lag post-update.

I would suggest you Start up your Mac in safe mode and see if it fixes the problem. I would also like to know if does fix the problem once you have done it.
Unclear to me what you mean by, "Finder loads across the screen showing only folders." Can you clarify or post a screenshot? Is your Mac locked up or can you launch applications, etc.?
no luck with that - thanks. :-(
any other thoughts?
