I cannot see what "Documents" Are taking up so much room on my MacBook

Please Help, I cannot see what "Documents" Are taking up so much room on my MacBook. I have put almost everything on an external hard drive logged out of iCloud & Dropbox. Have no movies. I do have music but that & just 1 small "to do list" word document are all I have on my computer. No photos, nothing. It says I can click on Documents in Systems Preferences but that does not work. Yes I have done a clean system re-nstall & have the same problem. I am also not in a country where I can go to an Apple Store & figure this out even though I did but the computer direct from Apple in the US. Thank you for your time. PS: It says I have Books- I don't. A lot of what it is saying I have I do not- I practically stripped my computer of data, I thought.

No- I click & nothing. Also I have zero photos but it keeps trying to calculate it, after iPhoto I gave up on the Apple Applications for MacBook. It makes no sense.

Please download and run (free) EtreCheck, and share the results to the clipboard. Then open a new reply here, and press the Additional Text button that looks like a printed page, and paste and post the hardware and software configuration report here. From that, we can get a little more detail about what is installed and what is running here.

At 544MB, that is probably just the App, no data. Apple does not allow removing some of its built-in apps. See the section, "If you can't delete the app" in this Apple article, which specifically mentions Books:
