Voice Siri responses disappear after 6 seconds on iPad - can't read longer answers

I'm experiencing a frustrating issue on my iPad where voice-activated Siri responses automatically disappear after 6 seconds, which isn't enough time to read longer responses like word definitions or contact addresses.

Device: iPad Air 11-inch (M2)

iPadOS version: 26.0.1

What happens:

When I ask Siri a question using my voice, the response shows up but vanishes after 6 seconds no matter how much text there is to read. For example, if I say "What's the definition of hippopotamus?" or ask for someone's address from my contacts, it's gone before I finish reading.

Workarounds I've found:

  • Type to Siri works fine - responses stay visible
  • ChatGPT responses through Siri also stay on screen long enough
  • If I touch and hold the response, it stays visible while my finger is on it

Another family member has the same issue on their iPad with the same iPadOS version. I've already submitted feedback to Apple about this.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Have you found any better solutions? This seems like it might be a bug with the voice Siri timeout behavior specific to iPad.

iPad Air, iPadOS 26
