Apple on Amazon and ASM
Would buying an iPad from Amazon (if it was from the "Apple" store on Amazon) add it to our schools Apple School Manager or would we need to add it throught the Configurator app?

If you have Apple School Manager, you should be purchasing from Apple Education sales. I know some of the deals on the online retailers are enticing, but you will not be able to partner with them for device enrollment automation. And you may not be able to avoid sales tax. Plus, any savings you are getting will be wasted on time it takes to side load everything via Configurator.
In order to get devices added to ASM automatically, you need to provide the reseller with your Org ID and the reseller provides you with their Reseller ID. Or in the case of Apple, you get an Apple Customer ID and that is used with Apple EDU sales to associate to your ASM tenants. Ask your EDU rep to create an eCommerce portal for you so you can shop online and purchase with POs.
I know it may be enticing to purchase on these product dumps. But check out the EDU 5 pack deals as the price is likely not that far off (and you get less packaging). Plus, everything arrives ready for enrollment. No unboxing to side load each device individually.
