iOS 26 (Mail App) — “Mark as Read” menu lag causing mass flag or junk actions

I use Select All > Mark as Read dozens of times every day to keep my inbox clean and manageable.

Since updating to iOS 26, I’ve noticed a serious issue: the menu button in the bottom left (which contains Move to Junk, Mark as Read, and Flag) often lags or fails to open. Out of pure instinct, I tap the button again — and suddenly, every single email across all accounts becomes flagged.

This mass action takes hours to apply and even longer to undo. On a few occasions, I’ve accidentally moved thousands of messages to Junk instead.

This has been incredibly frustrating, and I can’t imagine I’m the only one experiencing it.

Potential Solutions:

Is there any way to disable “Move to Junk” and “Flag” for bulk selections?

is there any way to require confirmation before applying actions to all messages?

I rely heavily on “Mark All as Read” — it saves me hours a day — but this behavior has made using Mail risky and stressful.

Requiring confirmation seems the most logical to me, as even mark as unread can be very painful if you inadvertently mark every email.

I’ve had somewhat similar problems and am very frustrated. When I want to move an email to a different folder, I have to generally have it as unread or move is grayed out. Then I power off and on and it’s fine for an email but the next one must be unread again.

Also everything in multiple apps is much, much slower.

I’m not liking a lot about ios26 so far, no matter what other great things it can do. It’s not good with emails or notes.
