EQ settings crash on iPhone 16 Pro Max with iOS 26.0.1

iPhone 16 pro max, iOS 26.0.1.

when I try to use EQ from settings, the settings app crashes instantly.

Tried to do it with/without sound reproducing (podcasts or music)

and with the same result.

Shutdown and restart the iPhone and, again, it didn’t work.

Anyone else had this problem?

One thing I miss: if you navigate to settings:apps:music:eq it does NOT crash.

But, if you open settings and type “eq” in the search bar, it crashes immediately. At least, in my experience.

Bro! I found a work around! I had an idea and went digging. Someone came up with this idea to create a shortcut to run the action of opening EQ settings and it worked for me! I added the widget to my Home Screen. Best fix I’ve found so far!

Open Apple's Shortcuts app and create a custom shortcut:

  • Tap on the icon at top left to choose a color and glyph.
  • Tap on Shortcut Name and enter EQ Settings or similar.
  • Search for this action: Open URLs and tap it to add it.
  • Copy & Paste the line below over the default apple.com in that action's field:

prefs:root=MUSIC&path=com.apple.Music

this will get you to music folder and you can select EQ quicker than going through all the settings windows! I tried to go all the way into EQ settings but it crashes. So the main music folder is the closest I can get.

This has been happening since the iOS 26 update and was happening on my 15 pro max as well. I submitted a bug report but clearly no one has actioned on it. They also got rid of the “Late Night” (the best choice imho) EQ setting and now the only options given all make the music sound like trash. Something is definitely wrong since the new iOS was released. I also submitted a feedback for that and no action. They need to make EQ easily accessible direct from the Apple Music app. Why do I need to be searching deep in setting for this?!!!! APPLE ARE YOU LISTENING!!!?
