Time Machine or equivalent restore after enrolling in MDM.

We have a swathe of devices that we want to add to Apple Business Manager.

We would like to backup the data on these devices, enroll them via Configurator, and then restore the backed up data after the wipe. We would like to keep this solution in the Apple ecosystem by leveraging Time Machine, but we're open to alternatives.

First, is it possible to restore from a backup after adding the device to ABM, or do we have to piecemeal the data via flat file backup?

If possible, is Time Machine the best option in this case, or should we leverage another type of software?
