Why will Apple Music library spin and spin and not load?

Today I tried to start Apple Music and the line goes back and forth for ten minutes and still will not load.

iMac (2017 – 2020)

Re: "Why will Apple Music library spin and spin and not load?"

There are many possible reasons, and we have few details to go on, and, of course, no access to your Mac.

A few suggestions follow below. If there was an error message, that may point to what causes the issue.

Re: "Today I tried to start Apple Music and the line goes back and forth for ten minutes and still will not load."

✽ Wondering if would help to restart your Mac: Eg: Apple menu (Click black apple at left in top menu bar) > Choose "Restart" from the menu that appears. Wait for Mac to restart, and log back in to see if Music loads now.

(ie: Restarting deletes temporary files, re-establishes connections, may update recent setting charges etc., and often restores order if something is not working as expected.)

____

✽ Else: You can check whether there's a system outage: (A green dot beside Apple Music means all is ok.)

Apple - Support - System Status

✽ You might want to check your Mac has enough memory / storage space in which to operate smoothly.

Eg: a Mac generally needs around 50 Gb free in order to do all we ask it to. (iCloud storage doesn't count)

Check: Apple menu > System Settings > General > Click Storage

✽ If your music library contains purchases from Apple:

You might want to check whether your computer is authorised to play Apple Music, or authorise if needed.
