FaceTime calls don't connect on my Macbook

When I receive a Facetime call on my Macbook and answer, it says it's connecting but it doesn't. It just carries on 'connecting' until I or the other person hangs up. I've checked I'm signed in with the same iCloud account on all my devices.

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 26.0

Wondering if you have updated your Mac to MacOS 26.0.1 ... seems there were bug-fixes and more etc.

(Note: Please remember to back up your Mac if you choose to update the MacOS version)

iCloud is just one feature of your Apple Account. You may want to check that the iCloud account details you used to sign in to FaceTime with are the same as the Apple Account details that you use for FaceTime etc.

Eg: an email address or phone number on file for your account, and your password.

If needed: Apple Account online sign-in: https://account.apple.com/

Your Apple Account is the one account you use to access Apple services like the App Store, Apple Music, iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, and more. It includes the email address and password you use to sign in as well as the contact, payment, and security details you use across Apple services..

Sign in to or out of FaceTime on Mac - Apple Support

Eg: says:

"To make and receive FaceTime calls and phone calls on your Mac, you need to be signed in to FaceTime with your Apple Account. See FaceTime audio and video call requirements. "

Wondering if any FaceTime / ScreenTime / restrictions are set

Apple Supports online article: If you can’t make or receive calls in FaceTime on Mac - Apple Support

Eg: says: (and there's a lot more in the above article)

" If you can’t receive calls from a specific person in FaceTime

Re: It’s fully updated.

Good! Now FaceTime calls generally use wi-fi between Apple to Apple computers and devices. A strong wi-fi signal is necessary.

Make FaceTime calls on iPhone - Apple Support Eg: says

"You can also make FaceTime calls over a cellular data connection. (Calling and data rates may apply.) See View or change cellular data settings.

Note: FaceTime audio calls and Group FaceTime calls aren’t available in all countries or regions."

Re: I’ve now had the same issue on my IPad and a slightly different problem on my iphone where I got an error message and was unable to answer the call.

If others you communicate with are using non-Apple computers or devices, you can send them a link to use (wi-fi): See how to: Start or join a call from a FaceTime link - Apple Support
