Loud crackling or popping noise from MacBook Pro speakers when launching iPhone Simulator

Hello everyone,

I’ve been experiencing a persistent audio issue on my MacBook Pro (2024, M4 Pro) running macOS Tahoe Version 26.0.1 (25A362). Whenever I launch or start any iPhone Simulator from Xcode Version 26.0.1 (17A400), I immediately hear loud crackling, popping, or distortion sounds coming from the built-in speakers.

The issue occurs exactly when the simulator boots up — it doesn’t depend on which iPhone model or iOS version is selected. It also happens regardless of the music app in use (Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, etc.).

System details:

– MacBook Pro (2024, M4 Pro)

– macOS Tahoe 26.0.1 (25A362)

– Xcode 26.0.1 (17A400)

– iPhone Simulator (any device, same issue)

– Output device: Built-in speakers

Troubleshooting steps I’ve tried:

– Restarted Mac and closed all background apps

– Reset NVRAM/PRAM

– Tested with Bluetooth and wired headphones → no issue there

– Reinstalled Xcode

– Sent the device to Apple Authorized Service, but the problem still persists after service

Because the issue remains even after official hardware inspection, it appears to be a CoreAudio or sound driver glitch triggered by Xcode Simulator startup.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any known workaround or official Apple fix would be greatly appreciated.
