LG Oled TV sometimes opens to a black screen when I use the Apple TV Remote

I have the Apple TV properly hooked up to my LG OLED TV. All software is up to date. Sometimes when I turn it on it works fine and on other occasions, it opens to a black screen. To get around this I have to switch the input in the LG TV settings and then input the Apple TV as the default and it works for the time being. It is very inconsistent and a pain. It's almost like the Apple TV is just not worth it. Is there some setting for the Apple TV or LG to keep the input stable?
