Photos/videos still taking up storage space after removing from iPhone

My iPhone SE (2nd generation) storage is full, so I removed all my photos and videos (48GB) to make space. But they still show up as "other" under my storage contents. They are in my iCloud, which has over 100GB of available storage. They are not in my iPhone's recently deleted album or anywhere else on my phone, and yet my storage has not changed. Any suggestions?

First, the iPhone doesn't give high priority to calculating file sizes and stuff-- it's way busy do stuff building search databases and other phone stuff. It can take days for the calculations to get done.

Second, those numbers can be calculated lots of different ways-- what counts as a picture, anyway. You can't take their value, especially from moment to moment, too seriously. As Captain Barbosa would say, "They're more like guidelines, anyway."

Third, if your iPhone was nearly full, then it takes lots of work to move things around so that files can be deleted. There may not be enough room to delete larger files. If it was really full, then it's not unusual for it to take days to stabilize. I'd say, check back in a week.
