External monitor freezing after Tahoe

Hi,

I am sharing what I reported to Apple, to see if others are having the same issue>

My 14 inch MBP M4 worked great on previous macOS with my 14 in 1 Anker adapter connecting my Dell Monitor via Anker's HDMI.

Now after Tahoe, it occurred several times that it freezes on the external monitor.

I have to quit the apps that are open on both monitors, and click on shutdown the Mac. But what happens is that even tough the main monitor goes to black screen waiting for it to shut down, the external monitor keeps frozen with the Apps that I had quit but not quit because of the freezing issue.

I also use LAN via this Anker port's RJ45, and an external 4TB disk, and audio via Anker's audio port, and USB A to printer.

Does this occur without the display connected via the Anker dock? Does it occur with the display connected directly (not via the dock)?

I am using a 5K:2K display connected via a Stone Pro (Brydge) dock with my M4 Pro MBP, no issues with 26.0 or 26.0.1.

Sometimes when a Macs freezes an external display is affected oddly, but the issue is the Mac. If you’re running 3rd party extensions there may be compatibility issues with Tahoe.

See if the problem is present when you boot in safe mode, which disables 3rd party extensions and performs some system cleanup.

Hi

Thanks for the reply !

For now, it happened when I was working while leaving Safari on both monitors, in which the main monitor had YouTube video playing. I mainly work on Microsoft Edge, and Edge usually is the App freezing first. And Firefox too, that I also use for work.

I will have to try without Edge and Firefox to see if this is an issue on Safari. What I have also noticed is that Safari on Tahoe has some issues accessing quickly pages like gmail, Youtube, and others while at the same time Edge or Firefox do not have delays.
