podcasts turn off everytime i close facebook

After upgrading my iPhone 12mini to iOS 18.7.1, I find that when I am listening to podcasts on the Apple podcast app, if I also have the Facebook app open, podcasts (and Audible) stops playing when I close the FB app. I have done all of the troubleshooting per Apple's instructions with no joy. I even deleted FB, turned off the phone, reinstalled it and made sure that the settings were correct to avoid this problem. Not working.
