Accessibility privacy - how to turn off

I have iPad Air 5 (M1) and I am on iPadOS 26.0.1. Ever since I installed the new OS I can see the orange dot on control center. And I can’t turn it off. What am I missing here? Please see screenshot.

Re: iPad Air iPadOS 26: Privacy:

How to turn off orange dot in control center (ie: shows microphone is in use)

On your iPad you can change to settings to control who can use the microphone.

First: Choose which apps you will allow to use the microphone.

Second: Choose which websites you will allow to use the microphone.

_________

First: Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Choose "Microphone".

Here you can turn off access by any apps that you do not want to allow to have access to your microphone.

More info, if needed: Control access to hardware features on iPad - Apple Support

Eg: says:

" Note: Whenever an app uses the camera (including when the camera and

microphone are used together), a green indicator appears.

An orange indicator appears at the top of the screen whenever an app uses the microphone without the camera. Also, a message appears at the top of Control Center to inform you when an app has recently used either."

________

Second: If you use Safari to browse webpages:

Browse the web privately in Safari on iPad - Apple Support

Eg: says:

Go to Settings > Apps > Safari

Then scroll down to:

  • "Microphone: Choose whether Safari websites can use your microphone without asking you first. Tap Microphone, then choose Ask, Deny, or Allow."

All the best :-)
