Unable to follow each other on Find My between family members

My son and I can no longer follow each other on Find My, but are each able to follow other family members. Specifically, we can follow the exact same family members, but not each other, and we used to be able to. Any guidance on how to remedy this issue is greatly appreciated. Thanks Apple Community!
