Genmoji still not working on iPhone 17

I managed to make one Genmoji. But now that I want to immediately make another one, the icon does not appear in the upper right corner of the Messages app. Apple Intelligence is enabled. Keyboard is set to allow them. Stickers enabled. I have an iPhone 17 that just updated to iOS 26.0.1. I restarted my phone as well. Nothing.

There is no button in the upper right corner. Xjxjnm is correct. It's at the top right of the emoji keyboard.

Here are the instructions on how to access and use the feature:

Yes, upper right of the emoji keyboard is what I meant. The button sometimes appears and sometimes is absent. Exactly where your screenshot illustrated. I was able to make two more emojis yesterday but today the button is gone again. I’ve restarted my phone and checked that all features for enabling genmoji are on. This is evidently a bug.

Have you ever seen any cool feature from Apple that works? Genmoi also does not work for me in most cases. Something went wrong and that's all. Apple style :) btw. do you know when continuity was introduced in Apple tools (eg picking up iphone call on a macbook)? And it still also barely works ages after it was introduced :) even though I have perfect wifi/internet connection.

Solution is to just do not use genmoi and picking up phone calls on macbook and forget about it, there are plenty of tools on the internet that do the same and always work. Your life will be easier. It's just a gimmick and marketing hoax :)

Let's face it quickly:

  • genmoi introduced on December 11, 2024 - "something went wrong" error very often, does not work; not fixed
  • continuity, forwarding calls to macbook introduced on October 20, 2014 - mostly stucks and does not work on perfect wifi and internet; not fixed
  • videos in iCloud offloading from device, introduced on October 20, 2014 - still stucks sometimes, I need to restart Photos to make it working again; not fixed

These are 3 features that are definitely not quickly fixed. I guess this lies within these 1% only?

I would like to confirm if:

1) write message, click emoji keyboard, select genmoi, type prompt eg type smilly face, "something went wrong" error appears, type anything else - the same outcome

2) click "answer" button on macbook, I see on iphone that call is being answered on the macbook, there's no sound and call is dropped and phone disconnects from the caller after 3 seconds.

3) click play on long video (10mins), after a while rewind it to the middle, nothing happens for a minute or so, close video, select other video - nothing happens. Double check wifi - perfect signal, all websites work OK.

Please confirm if that's how you define pebkac problems.

No, I don't have those problems.

Perhaps look up "pebkac?"

Mine has worked fine until a few days ago when I got this message. I haven’t switched to iOS 26 yet, but I’m unsure if that’s even the issue since it worked normally the next day or two. But now it’s showing the same message again.

I haven’t found a single helpful answer since every other question (other than yours) that mentions this specific message is from last year & never being able to use the feature in the first place. Meanwhile, mine is switching between working & not.

I think you’re correct in saying it’s a bug, but it would be nice to have some sort of confirmation about it.

Hopefully it’s fixed soon. Some of them are really impressive, but I’m a fan of the strange, goofy results it gives sometimes.
