How can I lower ringtone volume on AirPods Pro 2?

The ringtone and message alert volume on my Airpods Pro 2 is deafeningly loud. Once I answer the call, the volume is normal.

I've seen many similar posts to this from 2+ years ago without any resolution. I'd like to find a way to reduce the incoming calls/messages volume without affecting the volume for media/music/etc. and without limiting the volume range on my Airpods globally.

• I do not have "Change With Buttons" turned on.
• The ringtone volume on my iPhone is only set to around 25%
• Using "Reduce Loud Sounds" in the Sounds & Haptics settings seems like something I shouldn't have to do, and it would affect the other sounds globally on the Airpods, which I do not want to do

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
