Over the past couple of days, 3 out of my 4 HomePod Minis started acting up in the same way. In the middle of the night, each one suddenly blasted music at full volume and wouldn’t respond to voice or touch. I had to unplug them to stop the noise. I left them unplugged overnight.
When I plugged them back in the next morning, they each went into a loop: the light spirals red, they announce “Your HomePod is about to reset,” beep three times, and repeat endlessly.
I tried the so-called “Windex trick” with no luck, so I connected them to my Mac mini. Finder recognized them, showed they were on 26.0.1, and offered a factory reset. I performed the reset on all three, left them connected for an extra 15 minutes afterward, and then returned them to their Apple 20W adapters. Same result — the reset loop came right back.
The odd part is that my fourth HomePod Mini, which has not updated to 26.0.1, is working fine. That makes me think the issue is tied to the update rather than a sudden hardware failure across 75% of my speakers.
Has anyone else run into this? Has anyone found a workaround or fix beyond taking them to Apple?
