Weird, Persistent Chirping/Anti-Stalking Noise from AirPods 4 ANC Case After Pairing to Mac mini
Hello community,
I have a frustrating issue with my AirPods 4 (ANC). I've used them flawlessly with my Google Pixel 9 for a year.
The Issue
- Trigger: About 3 weeks ago, I paired the AirPods to my new Mac mini M4.
- Symptom: The case now randomly emits the loud, persistent anti-stalking/unpaired tracking chirp. It stops only when the AirPods are actively connected.
- Conflict: The chirping suggests the tracking feature is active, but my AirPods DO NOT show up in the Find My app on my Mac mini. (In settings, "Find My" is listed as ON, but they aren't visible).
- Weird Naming: When I try to pair the AirPods to my Google Pixel, their Bluetooth name appears as "AirPods - Find My".
Troubleshooting Done
- Forgot/Unpaired from ALL devices (Mac and Pixel).
- Performed a Hard Reset (tap on the case until amber/white).
- Repaired devices.
- Disabled "Case Sounds" on Mac.
Result: The anti-stalking chirp persists, and they are still not in Find My.
Core Questions
- How do I disable this anti-stalking chirp when they are my own AirPods?
- Why is the case making the anti-stalking sound if they aren't visible in the Find My app?
- Is there a specific Mac/Android pairing issue causing this conflict?
- How can I see the Airpods showing in the Find My app on my Mac mini?
Any advice on solving this conflicting "active chirp/no Find My" situation would be fantastic. Thank you!
