old iTunes libary not showing in music despite a music subscription

I have an old imac that has itunes, and I loaded all my CD's into it - worked great, then along came "music" and I cant see any of my music on my phone or Mac air despite having a subscription which is what I believe I needed.

Both are "authorised" - what else do I need to do to access my old music

Actually you didn't need a subscription at all. You could have simply transferred the library from the old computer to the new one directly. The caveat—from my experience—being if your iTunes library is very old, Music apparently only supported converting iTunes --> Music for a transitional period only. In other words, when I transitioned from High Sierra directly to Sequoia, the Sequoia Music did not recognize my High Sierra library and I had to rebuild all my playlists, etc.

I would think that if you have a Music subscription then things should have been more seamless.
