Bang and Olufsen soundbar not connecting to Apple TV as external speaker

I have a bang and Olufsen soundbar that’s connect to my Apple TV as one of the external speakers. For some reason recently I am unable to connect and use it as my external speaker. It’s clearly showing as one of my temporary speakers, when I click on it my tv shuts down and doesn’t connect when I switch the tv back on. How can I also make it the default speaker.

The preferred setup is to connect through HDMI, either in between or from the TV, and set Apple TV to output to “TV Speakers” (= via HDMI), and also set the TV to output to the soundbar.

Bluetooth and AirPlay connections to soundbars or other audio systems are always temporary (except for Apple HomePod speakers), and always Stereo. Prefer HDMI for lossless multichannel audio, and default audio output.
