Sustain pedal / held notes randomly cutting off in Logic

Hi everyone,

I’m having a strange issue with Logic Pro on my Mac mini M4 (latest version). I use a MIDI keyboard connected over USB and I only play Logic’s software instruments.

After a few minutes of playing, the notes I hold down (holding notes or using the sustain pedal) suddenly cut off after about a second. There’s also a small clicking noise when the note cuts.

The odd part is that the problem goes away as soon as I switch to another track or create a new one. But if I try to delete the buggy track directly, Logic freezes or crashes. So far I’ve only noticed this with the piano instruments, not with synths or other presets.

I use a USB hub with my keyboard, but since the issue disappears immediately when changing tracks, I’m pretty sure that’s not the cause.

Do someone knows how to resolv it ? Thank you !

Same problem, M2 here, have been encountering since 11.0.

It particularly happens to sampler instruments like the piano. Maybe what triggers this is when too many notes are being played for a while.

Maybe there are two stages. The first stage is an occasional clicking noise, the workaround of which seems to be reloading the inst as said by OP. The second stage is when every single note is cut. At this stage it's too late because switching the instrument will definitely crash the program.

An correlated behaviour is that the midi indicator will go off exactly when the cut off happens. I don't know what this means.

I guess it's a memory management/leakage issue regarding sampler instruments, related to the sustain pedal.
