AirPod Pro 2 Unable to Disable Charging Case Sounds

I've followed the instructions to turn of "Enable Charging Case Sounds" for my AirPods Pro 2 on my Macbook, but the option is greyed out forcing me to leave them enabled. The sounds are super annoying and I really want to turn them off. Please help! I do not have an iPhone or iPad, just the Macbook.
