Merge from patches instead of creating individual presets, channel strips & instruments

if i've saved patches and can merge out parts of the patch at any time, what's the point of making and saving individual presets, instruments and channel strips, if all of those individual components are stored as part of a patch and can be accessed selectively through the merge feature? See like a lot of unnecessary extra work and scattering of additional files on a computer.

Thanks yoyoBen

I would always want to save individual components if i thought the “save a patch” and “merge from patch” option would cause difficulties in being able to access the individual components.

But I guess, even though it might save some hard disk space and limit the number of places to look for the individual components, it’s not that practical, unless others think it might be a good idea for some reason I’m not aware of.

that’s why I’m asking.
