Why is Transparency mode recommended over Adaptive mode for concerts on AirPods Pro 2 and 3?

The Apple hearing protection page for AirPods Pro 2 and 3 states this:

* Choose Transparency mode when you want to maintain situational awareness, like at a concert or a sporting event.
* Choose Adaptive mode when sound levels vary or are unpredictable, like with city traffic or while commuting.

Concerts can be in excess of 110dB. When looking up the attenuation numbers at the 110dB level on the AirPods Pro 2 and Pro 3, Adaptive mode provides more protection than Transparency mode; 10-12dB more on the Pro 2 and 1-2dB more on the Pro 3.

If Adaptive mode provides more hearing protection, why is Apple recommending Transparency mode for concerts that can easily exceed 110dB? Is there sound processing that makes Transparency better for music? What is the exact difference in the two modes besides attenuation?

This is what Apple Support said:

"Transparency mode is recommended for concerts on AirPods Pro because it provides consistent awareness of the surroundings at a stable volume, which is ideal for events where you want to hear the music while remaining alert to the environment. While Adaptive mode dynamically adjusts noise levels, this variability can be a disadvantage in a consistently loud environment like a concert, where a static, high level of ambient sound filtering is preferable.

In an environment like a street, a dynamic audio system adjusts to sudden noises like a passing car by detecting the change in ambient sound, then automatically increasing the volume to make the desired audio clear and perceptible. This adaptation happens by analyzing the new sound input, which is a more urgent and louder signal, and then rapidly adjusting the gain (volume) to compensate so that the less intrusive sounds remain understandable while still being able to hear the important ones."
