MacBook Pro lags while clicking on Safari Favourites tab

I use Safari version 26.0.1 on Sequoia. When I go to favourites and click on a link, I notice a lag in my click. That is, I click, a very short lag happens and the click gets working. When I clear the history or the favourites db file in Library, it goes back to normal but just after a few clicks the lag comes back. Why and how to fix it?
