Tahoe Safari no longer automatically inserts two-factor authentication codes

In Sequoia, a dialog box would appear with the correct authentication code when entering two-factor authentication sites on Safari. I'd just click on the code and presto, the code would enter into the authentication box. In Tahoe, this convenience has disappeared, and I must go back to manually entering the codes. Yes, the code appears in Messages, forwarded to my MacBook Pro from my phone, but that's not the same thing. Any solutions? What box did Tahoe uncheck that I must go back and check. So far, the transition from Sequoia to Tahoe has hardly been seamless.
