My AirPods Pro 3 sound distorted on calls with iPhone 17 running iOS 26

I have a strange issue while making phone calls on my AirPod Pro 3’s. No other functionality issues to note. When make phone calls it sounds like .5 speed ping pong in a tile bathhouse. No voice can be heard and it’s unbearable. Clicking and clacking with reverberations is the best way to describe it otherwise The first day I didn’t have this issue, then it started up. I have iPhone 17 with iOS 26.

Any thoughts or solutions? Thanks.
