After updating to Tahoe, MS Word crashes constantly

I just updated to Tahoe yesterday. Now Word crashes for no reason. Never had this issue before.

Macbook Air, latest model.

MacBook Air 15″, macOS 26.0

Prior to these steps, I completely uninstalled and reinstalled the Office apps. They crashed when I opened them.

they worked under my original account when in safe mode. Then I created a new account and the apps worked (standard mode). Finally I restarted and logged into my original account and it crashed.

in the end, I created a new account for me on my Mac and had to restore my app configs, etc.

Upgrading MS Office:

NOTE: Support for MS Office 2013 and 2019, and MS Windows 10, are all to lose support form Microsoft on October 14th (in just a few weeks, as of this reply). So, look into upgrading to MS Office 2024 or Office 365, if not already installed. It might just make the fix.

I no longer have this issue, but I'd like to describe what happened. Thanks for suggesting to upgrade MS Office; I have the latest version.

I received a very large document and was going through edits—accepting/rejecting changes, reviewing, and deleting comments. I upgraded to Tahoe halfway through the document. This is when Word started closing randomly. The document was in OneDrive, and I thought that might be an issue. I copied it to my desktop, but it didn't fix it.

Yesterday, after all changes were accepted/rejected, the document stopped crashing. I was able to work in the same document without any problems all day. A weird bug. I don't think it was something on my side. I hope the problem is resolved with the next update.

This keeps happening to me since updating to Tahoe too. I have the latest version of Word — 16.1010.1. It's becoming infuriating as I always lose a little bit of work, even though it's got Autosave on. I don't know if it's related, but I can't get Spotlight to find documents anymore unless they're in iCloud Drive. But I store most on my computer or in OneDrive. This is a document that's in OneDrive but always stored on the computer. It's also very long - 175,000 words but without any comments or tracked changes.

This is happening to me too on Tahoe. I have word v16.101.3 (25100321). I'm an author and the file I'm working on is a novel and is 350mb. Every hour or so it crashes and the auto save has not worked and I lose a chunk of work. I've had to give up and thankfully can use my partner's laptop thats still on Sequoia. I'm considering backing up, removing Tahoe and reinstall Seqouia, but geez what a pain in the butt!
