My keyboard has defective letter

I’m not sure what’s going on but my keyboard letter “m” does not work, it beeps when I press it. I need that letter because it was part of my password to get on my desktop iMac. I bought a new keyboard but I need to access my system folder which I can’t do if I can’t get into my iMac desktop. Help, please.

If you bought a new Apple rechargeable keyboard, plug it into the iMac using the supplied charging cable.

Otherwise dig out, borrow, buy an inexpensive USB keyboard, plug it into the iMac and login.

What den.thed (I think) is saying is you need to pair the new keyboard to your Mac. If you purchased a new Apple rechargeable keyboard please click Connect a Bluetooth device with your Mac - Apple Support while the new keyboard is connected to your iMac using the enclosed USB cable. After it is paired you can then disconnect the charging cable, also ensure the keyboard is turned on!!!!!
