New iTunes missing drivers after install, cannot detect iPhone.
I found that after installing the new 64-Bit iTunes, the computer will not detect Apple devices properly and won't work with iTunes. The iTunes installation does not install the drivers into the proper location:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
One solution is to use a file archive program like 7-Zip to extract the drivers from the installation file. First install 7-Zip, then right click on the iTunes64Setup file (select "Show more options"), select 7-Zip and then "Open archive". Extract the AppleMobileDeviceSupport64 file to a folder. Then right click that file, select 7-Zip and then "Open archive". Look for and extract the following files to the "Drivers" folder listed above:
usbaapl64.cat
usbaapl64.inf
usbaapl64.sys
usbaaplrc.dll
When connecting an Apple device, you will need to find the device listed in Device Manager, double click on the device, go to the "Driver" tab, select "Update Driver", select "Browse my computer for drivers", "Let me pick from a list ...", "Have Disk", copy and paste the location listed above and select "OK". Then select the correct Apple driver that is required.
