Purchased Apple TV shows no longer auto-play episodes

Recently my purchased TV shows on the Apple app no longer auto-play the next episode. After an episode is done, it takes me back to the main menu. This happens on both of my TVs (including one with a fire stick) and my MacBook Air. I contacted customer service about this, and it turns out, they shut off this feature unless you have an Apple TV. I find this to be a sleazy way to force people to purchase Apple TVs. Very disappointed in Apple and I won't be purchasing anything further from the app.
