text candidate window mac os dark theme problem

If I enable the dark theme on my Mac, the text candidate box becomes hard to read when I visit websites with a light background. Can anyone help me with this issue?

Thank you for the clarification.

Are you saying that the circled text is unreadable in the screenshot you posted?

As far as I can see, your screenshot was taken in light mode, and would be perfectly legible (if only I could read Chinese, which alas I can't).

I take it that in dark mode it would not be so readable.

This is the sort of change that Apple sometimes make. You should probably use feedback to let them know (they do read the feedback, but don't expect any reply):

I don't think you can change the color of the text, but

if the text does not stand out from the blue color, maybe try a different color in System Settings->Appearance->Theme.

This of course does not help if the unselected options are still difficult to read.

I’m referring to the input candidate box, which is used in the Chinese language to select characters. I’ve updated the screenshot with a red circle to highlight the problem—you can see the text in the candidate box appears in a light grey color, making it very hard to read, especially when I’m on websites with a light background after enabling the dark theme.

Reuploaded the screenshot with red circle to highlight the issue

Thanks for trying to help! Yes.I am referring to the unselected characters in the input candidate box.

Actually, the screenshot was captured with dark mode enabled, but the issue happens when I access any application or website with a light background—it turns into what you see. If I visit a dark-background website, it looks normal, just like the screenshot you attached.

I’ve pretty much given up on solving this. I tried searching, but no one seems to have the same issue. I already submitted feedback to Apple, but as you said, I’m not expecting a solution.

So, I’m attempting to reinstall my MacBook lol, and it says it’ll take 6 hours loool. I’m just waiting now.
