There is no reason to believe that DisplayPort MST daisy-chaining, or its equivalent, will be supported.

If your Mac supports attaching two or more external monitors via USB-C or Thunderbolt, and you want to attach two monitors to a single dock, hub, or dual-display adapter, that device will need to be a Thunderbolt one.

Regardless of the moving, no one here can answer "will Apple" questions. We are end users, not Apple. We have no more access to Apple's unannounced plans than you.

On the other hand, Apple started using (Mini) DisplayPort in 2008 on some MacBook Pros, and in 2009 on many other Macs. If they haven't seen fit to support MST in the more than 15 years since, this strongly suggests that they don't see MST support as a high priority.
