Microsoft 365 is a subscription solution for MS Office on Mac and Windows. The features in the Windows and Mac versions of the relevant applications are slightly different and if you want to use the Windows versions on your Mac to be on the same page as those using Windows, you have three options:

  • Install the free Windows App from the Mac App Store. That is the replacement for Microsoft Remote Desktop that will open a window and allow you to run Windows and its applications on your Mac. You would coordinate this with the University IT team.
  • Get the free VMware Fusion Pro (13) Virtual Machine and create a Windows 11 Pro guest, and either pay a reduced price for the Microsoft 365 or single-purchase MS Office for Windows to run in the guest. You will need to create a new Broadcom account to get VMware Fusion.
    • See stacksocial dot com for the 14USD Windows 11 Pro license, or the 69USD Microsoft 365 1-year subscription, or 159USD single purchase.
  • Use the free web version of Microsoft 365 on your Mac.
