Missing Numbers spreadsheets after macOS Tahoe update on Mac mini M4

After upgrading my Mac mini M4 to macOS Tahoe, all of my Numbers spreadsheets disappeared.

I checked on my iPad Pro and in Time Machine, but nothing remains.

Has anyone else lost files after the Tahoe update, and is Time Machine reliable for protecting data like this?

Mac mini, macOS 26.0

Were you syncing the documents between your Mac and your iPad? If so, you might try logging into your account at iCloud.com, going to Numbers for iCloud, and seeing if the documents are there.

In my experience Time Machine is reliable. You have to know the folder the documents were in and go back in time on that folder.

All my spreadsheets have disappeared from my Mac mini. While it’s not a major drama, as they were only for our home records, it is still very disappointing.

Going forward, whenever I work on spreadsheets, I’ll keep two copies: one saved to an external drive and another saved to iCloud, both supported by the Time Machine external drive. I’ll also make sure to run a manual Time Machine backup each morning without fail.

This experience has reminded me to stay more focused on consistently backing up my spreadsheets and documents to external drives.

Thanks for your suggestions.
