No backup option on iTunes

On 9/22/25 I followed the instructions on the Apple Support web site to back up my iPhone to my PC using iTunes so I could install ios 26.

When I opened iTunes, all that was there was podcasts and audio books. No option for backup, no iPhone icon, it looked nothing like the iTunes on the Apple Support site.

I read something on this discussion board about Apple Devices and used that to do my backup. For privacy, I hope it's owned by Apple and not some third party app. There's no info given about this on the app.

But why the wrong information on the Apple site?
