Airpods Pro 3 battery drain on the case is too high

The battery drain on my APP 3 seems to be too high. For example I charge my airpods from 97% to 100% with the case having 35% battery when I start charging the earbuds and the case battery already drops to 30 with only charging 1% of my airpods. Then it ends up at 28% when my earbuds are fully charged. So the case took 7% of its battery capacity to charge 3% of my earbuds which is way too high. This is only one example I encountered just now but the battery always seems to lose way too much battery when charging the earbuds.

Anyone else having this issue and found a way to fix it?

I’m having the same issue….i had a full charge before i used them for about 45 min. My phone said the pods at 100% but the case at 25%. My app2 never did this I could use them five times before the case battery dropped that low. I returned them at Apple and this new replacement pair is doing the exact same thing. I’ve rebooted my phone, & re-paired the pods but they still drains super fast. Something is wrong.

I has a similar but not identical problem with my Airpod Pro 2s. After Appe replaced both and the the left AirPod I finally got a new case from Apple on warranty and that solved the problem.

Take them back to a Genius Bar and see if you can get them to replace the case.

Definitely not normal; my AirPods track to within a couple of percent. Are you sure they are fitted snuggly in the case and there is no detritus in the “well” the stems go into that might be blocking the charging contacts at the bottom? And that the contacts on the left pod are clean? That could account for the case battery drain as well.

How long have you had the AirPods Pro 3? If less than 14 days take them back for a full refund - no questions asked and get a new pair.

If it's been over 14 days get a Genius bar appointment and have Apple check them out. They may give you a new case and re-pair them for you. I had trouble with my AirPods Pro 2 and ended up with a new case. Now they are perfect!

I had essentially the same problem. The right AirPod would not charge unless I forced it into the case a bit. It would discharge faster always.

I took them into the Genius Bar and they took them for examination and said they would email them to me. I got them back in 4 days with a new right AirPod and new case.

I still had problems so took them back to the Genius Bar and they gave me a new case. That was it. They have been "behaving" themselves as they should and there's been no issues. Since they are new take them in.

Does this count from the day I ordered them or the day I received them? I ordered them on release day so that makes it 14 days today. But I only used them for 5 days now and wanted to test something like bringing the battery to 0% and charging them completely full as I saw this helped with the battery drain on the app2 in another thread. Also I am not sure if this is normal behaviour or not since I never had airpods before these so I can‘t compare. I tested it a bit further today to see if it is maybe the battery drain that I would get over the whole day when not using them but still I lost more battery % on the case then on the earbuds themselves while charging them which is weird. Next I will test how they behave if I use them for a longer time and charge a higher amount of battery. Over a timespan of 24 hours of not using them the case doesn‘t lose any battery tho.

I've had every version of the APP since the first gen I've purchased around 7 p[airs between gifts for my children, my wife and myself. We LOVE them. But...., these newest versions the charging case battery life is terrible, to say the least. While preparing to create this response I noticed, after putting my Airpods in my ears my case said 37%. I then put the case on my wireless charger and it changed from 37% to, RED 20%??? Something is off with this new gens charging case.

Then you had the special AirPod Pro 2s.

This is what Apple says you should have expected from them:

AirPods Pro

  • Up to 6 hours of listening time with a single charge (up to 5.5 hours with Spatial Audio and Head Tracking enabled)4
  • Up to 4.5 hours of talk time with a single charge5

AirPods Pro with MagSafe Charging Case

  • Up to 30 hours of listening time6
  • Up to 24 hours of talk time7

5 minutes in the case provides around 1 hour of listening time8 or around 1 hour of talk time

AirPods Pro 2 - Tech Specs - Apple Support

Here are Apple's specs for the AirPod Pro 3:

AirPods Pro 3

  • Up to 8 hours of listening time on a single charge with Active Noise Cancellation enabled (up to 7.5 hours with Spatial Audio and Head Tracking enabled)
  • Up to 6.5 hours of listening time on a single charge with heart rate sensing during workouts
  • Up to 10 hours of listening time on a single charge in Transparency using the Hearing Aid feature

AirPods Pro 3 with MagSafe Charging Case (USB‑C)

  • Up to 24 hours of listening time with Active Noise Cancellation enabled
  • 5 minutes in the case provides around 1 hour of listening time22

AirPods Pro 3 - Technical Specifications - Apple

Mind you, I don't see what that has to do with your original statement. You make an observation about the fact that if your AirPods charged up from the case, the charge on the case dropped. You said nothing about time.
