showing an iMovie on a TV screen using a USB port

I have created an 11 minute iMovie. I want to show it on a TV screen that has a USB port and is capable of showing DVD"s. How do I get the iMovie on a flash drive? We have a macOS, sequoia 16.6.1. It's been suggested to save t as an mp4. I have no idea what that is.

We need to know the make & model of the TV in order to answer any questions about showing the movie on the TV.

Regarding how to create an MP4 video in iMovie, just export the movie as follows:

  • Open your iMovie project
  • Do File > Share > File
  • All the options in the export window should be fine as is but make sure the following:
    • Format = Video and audio
    • Quality = High. Do not select Best (ProRes) or Custom.
  • Then click Next, give the file a name & select the save location

The resulting video file (movie file) will be an MP4 file.
