Sometimes glitches can occur after an update. You state that you updated iOS 26 but that is for the iPhone. Has your HomePod Mini also been updated to HomePod OS 26? Try the following:

Update HomePod - Apple Support

still a problem then...

Restart HomePod - Apple Support

If that does not fix it then try resetting it.

Reset HomePod or HomePod mini - Apple Support

Please report back with results.

Just to be clear iOS and HomePodOS are not the same. They are different and do not get updated together. HomePods are supposed to be updated automatically but that sometimes doesn’t happen. That’s why I asked.

In any event then you need to submit a Feedback report to Apple about your issue. Apple does not monitor these user-to-user forums and no one here works for Apple. We’re just fellow users like yourself.

I experience the same issues you described.

I have a Homepod Gen 2, 2 single Mini's, and 2 sets of stereo Mini's. I have been using these systems since v 16.x and have experienced variations of these issues as long as I have had the systems. In general v26.x works the best of any version to date as it is the only version that can keep multiple HP's in sync when playing the same music stream on multiple systems. While I do experience the issues you have described, they occur inconsistently and with no recognizable pattern. I do not believe your network environment is a factor. FYI, I am operating a Deco WiFi 6 based network with 4 units in a 3 story house with 1GBit fiber optic internet connection. Homepod units are on on 3 floors.

My HomePod Mini is behaving erratically after being updated to HomePod OS 26: Siri lights triggering often (almost permanently) without calling it, randomly and unexpectedly answering to no questions being asked, randomly starting or stopping music, and, the moment I took it down, locking the entrance door out of nowhere. I am not waiting for it to also unlock it while I’m not home.

For some time now I've found selecting HomePods via Airplay to produce poor volume control response and, initially, the HomePods do not play - the music stays with the Mac or iPhone. After switching to and fro the HomePods finally work. This is with a stereo pair in my kitchen and very strong WiFi signal. (300 Mbps) It's the been the same across multiple iOS and MacOS versions but it really makes me wonder whether it's just me or nobody at Apple can resolve the issue.
